Obtaining the Financial Capability Certification

Necessary Documents

The necessary documents to obtain the Financial Capability Certification are simple and include:

  • Identity card and last tax return of the owner;
  • Chamber of commerce registration not older than 3 months.

In the case of a company, the following documents will be required:

  • Identity card and the latest tax return of the Administrator and the partners;
  • Chamber of Commerce report not older than 3 months;
  • Last filed balance sheet.


Exception for Public Technical Institutes

An important point to note is that technical institutes referred to in article 49-septies, paragraph 9, of the code, are considered public administrations and are exempt from the financial requirements established by the decree. This means that nautical schools managed by public technical institutes are exempt from these financial requirements.

The amount to be guaranteed is €50,000.00.

Does the financial capability certification need to be renewed every year?

The regulations are clear, the certification must be demonstrated annually, and the certificate can be issued annually or every three years.

How is it delivered?
